And They were Living in My fridge

In case you don't know what you are seeing, the term is

'COOLING GARBAGE."

I put it off as long as possible.

Why do we put leftovers in there? We know their ultimate destination is the garbage can. Is it guilt? Waste not, want not?

Full to the maximum capacity and nothing for dinner. I'd like to see a show of hands for all who have experienced this phenomenon.

How about, looked once, looked twice, and still went back a third time to see if anything has appeared in there since the last time you looked.

Deed is done. I cleaned it. I thought I spotted Elvis's blue suede shoes in the cream cheese. Does that count as a sighting?

Nope - you do have something, chocolate sauce. And that can make any dinner so special!

My W.V. = abdum (as in, my abdum really hurts from sitting too long.)

Mu husband is like that. He never throws anything out. He can eat the same leftovers even if it's a week old. Me? If it's not eaten after 2 days . . . out it goes!

We eat leftovers. . . Sometimes it's better the second time around. . .

I do know some that don't even give leftovers a chance, they go straight to the trash. . .

You are not alone in the leftover overwhelmness (is this even a word? lol). . .

My refrigerator DOES look like that most of the time, my husband insists that we do not throw anything away and I must admit that I'm also reluctant to waste food not eaten by just trashing it but we dont eat it all later either. I hate leftovers. I can taste "fridg" on food and it gags me. my Mom was famous for mixing up leftovers into various hotdishes and mystery stews and that cured me of it forever more.
bleck.

Did you find you had fewer leftovers with a dog? LOL We are down to two dogs and, while, I still mess up the fridge, leftovers aren't what generally messes it ujp.

I had a moment of sweet memory when Walker mentioned the dog.
Much to the hubby's dislike of the practice, I do recall Karl VS sitting with his nose at table level, drooling, and waiting for some tidbit. Which, of course, would later fuel his next favorite activity..... f a r t i n g.

I am enjoying your blog...

I have a terrible time throwing leftovers away. If I go to a restaurant, I always have a doggie bag. It always go in the fridge and somehow cold egg rolls or leftover asian salad just do not seem appealing to me the next day.

I also have lots of veggies this time of year from my garden. My neighbors are getting savvy to the fact that they should not open the door to me if I have a sack in my hand. I can no longer foist extra tomatoes off on them. I have canned everything I need for the Winter. I was told by the food bank that they no longer take "garden food." So, it goes in my fridge. I have lots of limp vegetables in there. They all look vaguely phallic and sort of repulse me. I don't think I can eat a limp zucchini.

Well, you can look at it this way - you are saving food. Then, at some point when you throw it out - you are saving a life.

HeeHee - looks a lot like my fridge (which I also cleaned out today BEFORE I read your post). Items we have in common: Vanilla Silk, salsa, eggs, and chocolate syrup.

Fodwox!

My kids think leftovers are for making science experiments in the fridge....varying stages of penicillan formation. I wonder if you ATE mold if it would cure what ails ya?

Some of the dishes Robo Cop makes are better as leftovers. I did say "some" *LOL*

I am a repeat offender as well. I like to test the boundaries of the Best Before dates on almost everything I buy.

My worst habit is hanging onto loaves of bread until the get up and walk themselves to the trash.

pamela, I wrote a real long comment about 30 minutes ago, and blogger had a cardiac arrest so I lost everything. Now I'm too bummed to repeat it.

Let's just say that I think you're brave for posting that pic.

This would be a great pic for tackle it tuesday (5 Minutes for Mom). But you'd need to have an after pic too.

OK What are you doing in my frig? this just reminded me-- it's not going to clean itself, and if I wait for my husband to do it, he'll just pile everything in the sink with the food still stuck to the dishes (yuck)
I just forget that the leftovers are in there. Since living in the 5th Wheel we haven't kept many leftovers. Mainly because the fridge isn't a big fridge, it is about half the size of a regular fridge. So they have to be really good leftovers to go into the fridge. :)

But I am not brave enough to take a photo and publish it. :)

What I would give for a fridge this size, but then I would probably loose even more at the back. My hubby is very good at eating up the left overs, if it can go in a microwave he'll take it next day for lunch at work so this works well.
