A Blossoming Sonnet ?

Image
The orchard wakes beneath the golden sun And, apple blossoms open pink and white Though efflorescence rests when day is done Transparent they reflect in the moonlight As soft pastel on petals slowly fades The fivesome leaves will stretch out green and curl Bright green above and silver under shades While pollinators dive in for the pearl The wind machine sits idle by the rows To thwart a frosty mood if grows acute So pleased at how the warm spring Zephyr blows A tempting scent of autumn’s promised fruit And much to soon is gone the beauty graced but pleasing us,  this season it embraced  by Pamela  Robin of Pensieve has invited one and all to join in Pensieve's Poetic License.  (Yes, she had her license suspended there for awhile.  Glad she renewed it!) Hope to read you there!!

Pensieve's Poetic License

Image
Robin (of Pensieve ) invites one and all to join in July's Poetic License as she introduces her own style of poetry. Read about it here. The abbreviated version is: the style involves the five senses, reflection and some play on words. I never follow the rules entirely - but my work is close enough to join the thousands (big smile) who will participate by linking to Robin's post on Friday. Yesterday we had our first rain of the summer. These thoughts were lingering in my head long before her invitation arrived. So, it was easy for me to be pensieve about SUMMER RAIN Dawn's pitter-patter on the skylight and the echoing murmur in the downspout stirs me from my slumber. The dampened breeze through the opened window feathers my cheek and teases my lashes until they open. Countless aqua dribbles explore the dusty trailed pane while triumphant drops bounce through the screen to sparkle on the sill. Earthy scents waft on the gentle zephyr, replacing the night's stale ...

But, Does it Rhyme?

Image
Robin's Poetic License continues this month with the style of Terza Rima . The topic of Superbowl and snacks sounds innocuous -- but attempting to combine those two with the iambic pentameter (whatever that is) of Terza Rimo kept me up past midnight with my eyes crossed. My mom, (how I miss her) could rhyme an entire letter written to her sons away at college. I wish she was here to help me with this stickler! Without further complaints.... Ode to the Super Bowl of Snacks Its party time –our chosen team– Let’s all cheer. Glitzy pre-game, mid-field coin toss, the fans roar Pass the meatballs, cheese & crackers, and the beer Special Team returns the Kick Off – and a score! Fill your plate with finger food from the buffet End zone chanting – is that the pizza at the door? The back fumbles! Coach throws red flag, now the replay Instead enjoy a million dollar ad sensation Overturned, the offence huddles, or do they pray? Ice cream and brownies, doubl...

Pensieve's Poetic License - Cinquain Celebration

Image
Robin at Pensieve has challenged our creative juices this month. I wrote this, in a burst of catch up, last Sunday evening, thinking that the assignment was due last week. When I realized my mistake, I set it aside with the idea that I would write more, make it wonderful, and just be on it with a joyful vengeance. Didn't happen. So without further ado, I present my Cinquain - which celebrates my daughters. Happy birthday (December 17th) Karmyn and (December 30th) Jennifer. And,our Goddaughter, Beckie (the 22nd). I am blessed. Birthdays in December Highlight the Calendar through tear smudged Memories of Daughters Robin will have Mr. Linky up tomorrow before the sun rises - I'm going to be there or be square. ( Fun Monday is Below )

Pensieve's Poetic License

Robin (The Pensieve One) has invited us all to the debut of her first Pensieve's Poetic License . She's made it very easy by suggesting a simple Limerick about Thanksgiving. I've decided to join her group of rhyming bloggers and add my silly little offering. Thanksgiving Old Abe made a big proclamation That “thanks” be the prayer of a nation But Cranberries and yams And turkeys and hams Have since become glutinous temptation
