My granddaughter and my daughter, and my granddaughter, and my grandson, the taller one on the right. Yeah.  Those are the ones that take after grandpa.

Pensieve's Poetic License

Image
Robin (The Pensieve One) has invited us all to the debut of her first Pensieve's Poetic License . She's made it very easy by suggesting a simple Limerick about Thanksgiving. I've decided to join her group of rhyming bloggers and add my silly little offering. Thanksgiving Old Abe made a big proclamation That “thanks” be the prayer of a nation But Cranberries and yams And turkeys and hams Have since become glutinous temptation

It's a Shin-Dig

Julie ( Another Chance Ranch ) and Tiffany ( Tiggerlane, the Neophyte blogger ) are soon moving in to their new homes. We watched the groundbreaking, the foundations poured, the walls and roofs raised, and the electricians in the crawl space. We approved tile, cabinets, and faucet designs. The only thing more fun would be moving in with them. In the real world that won’t happen, but I’m sure we’ll observe that part with envy in the near future. Meanwhile, we’ve all been invited to a cyberspace house warming. It’s a Shin-Dig at Swampys! I love cyber shopping! Money is no object. My only limitations was narrowing down the choice of what I would gift these two wonderful blogging friends, with the idea in mind that it would be something they would enjoy at the new house. HAPPY HOUSE WARMIN' TO JULIE! A Chuck Box from Texas Country Furniture I picture you and McD having fun with the grandkids out for a picnic with Hickory, Ruby, and Babe. Just ...

Nothing Much

Image
Tonight we ate the world's best strawberries. They were melt in your mouth sweet. No need for sugar, whipped cream, or chocolate. The local grower has fields of berries that are famous in our area for their superb flavor. I'm going to buy some this weekend and put them in my freezer. Unless I eat them all first. The Contessa is having hairball problems. It's scary to have one of those green things chase me down the hallway in the morning. She starts running for her life even before the hairball remedy tube comes out of the cupboard . I've tried hiding in the closet, sneaking up on her when she is sleeping, holding the door open just slightly so she gets caught in the screen, and singing "I'm just a little black rain cloud." Nothing works. She's OUTTA there. (Any helpful suggestions - other then to take her to the groomer and get her shaved for the summer?) The ingredients are mineral oil and barley malt syrup. Made in Forth Worth, Texas. ...

Big Foot (NOT)

Image
Okay...so it is probably a rock and a shadow. While up in the Blues this weekend, we were very close to the watershed wilderness where many Bigfoot stories originate. I was taking some digital photo's of the moon coming over a distant ridge when something caught my eye and shivered down the back of my neck. It just looked like something looking back at me from the next ridge up. I set my camera on 48X zoom and snapped two shots and hopped back in the truck. When I got home I realized my shaky hands did little to clarify whatever dark form had appeared in my lens. It is lying next to the tree stump. I say it is Bigfoot (snicker.) The hubby says it is my imaginary friend. Karmyn said it could be a young bear. Jammin' says it's a monkey with a teddy bear, and Buttercup says it is Strawberry Shortcake. You decide.

Blog my Blog

One of my favorite bloggers, Kailani of An Island Life , had fun last month with a post entitled Blog My Blog . It requires the cooperation of each person who reads this post today.... and if you like... come back tomorrow and the next day just to get in on the action. Here are the rules: I will start with a question/phrase. The First person to comment must answer this question and then pose a new question of his/her own. The next commenter must answer that question, and then ask a new question... and on and on and on. I'm so excited to hear from you all. My only request is that all questions and answers be rated at least PG (my friends and family read my blog, too.) Here is the question for the first commenter: If I could compete on one Game show on Television it would be ................

Perfect Post Award

If you look in my sidebar you will see that I was nominated by Kelly at Pass the Torch for a Perfect Post Award for November for the little story of when I was The Runaway. What a wonderful suprise and a special gesture from a lovely lady. Thank you Kelly!! To read the other nominations just link to Suburban Turmoil.

Dinner, gastropods and backing up.

Amanda is here for a visit (with little Curly Mop), so the hubby fixed her favorite dish for dinner. She said, "mom, post a picture of pop's stew on your blog." So here's dinner. Yes, those are green olives in the stew! Later, when Curly Mop was fast asleep, Amanda headed out the front door to meet up with a friend just back from Iraq. She poked her head back in and said "Mom, there is a slug on the sidewalk." She placed her key beside it just to prove we weren't photoshopping. We could rope and saddle him up and attempt eight seconds without sliding off. You first. It was officially 97 degrees here today in spite of the heavy layer of blue smoke in the valley. Slugs are the wet and rainy lovers so I was perplexed. Hey.... maybe he's a Blogger Tech? (I've been hoping for some help on step number four on the back up your blog instructions.) Perhaps word is out about the new pond in the back yard. The pink lily bloomed today.
