The Throne

Twelve years ago there was remodel work done to both bathrooms in our house.  Installed in one bathroom was a new low-flow toilet that was supposed to be environmentally friendly. It never made friends in OUR environment for several reasons: #1.We had to keep a bucket and a plunger handy.  It was always getting plugged. #2. There was no such thing as a one flush.  It always required two flushes to get the job done, and sometimes three. #3.  It wobbled when you sat on it. So now we have a toilet installed that is GUARANTEED to never get plugged.  The plumbers even said they would pay us $25 if it did.   They also did some shimmy work so that it won't make you dizzy if you're planning a long visit. So, Merry Christmas to me.

Mario spends the day with Grandma

Curlymop came to visit us last weekend with her mommy and daddy. After they arrived home, Curlymop could not find her best loved doll - Mario. She was sad and asked her mommy about it with tears on her cheeks. In the meantime, Grandma (me) saw Mario's feet sticking out from beneath the bed and pulled him to safety. Then, I started doing what I enjoy doing so much. Playing with my camera. The rest of the day, Mario and my camera tagged along. Curlymop was a giggle box when she began receiving Emails throughout the day with the photos attached. I've recapped Mario's day in a little slide show. It sure is fun being a grandmother sometimes. Drivin' Truck - Dreams and Memories

I had a dream last week that I actually remembered the next day. My Aunt Delores made an appearance in it. Delores, who will be 88 this month, was married to my mother’s younger brother and is the last surviving member of that generation. She still drives to the grocery store, to church, and to her volunteer shift at the local hospital gift shop. She also babysits her 2 year old great granddaughter every weekday morning. She's a good cook and a great conversationalist. There is really nothing elderly about my aunt except her age. In my dream, the hubby and I were on a trip to California. Our return trip included plans to pick up Delores, who was visiting her son in the Bay Area. We were shocked when her son asked us also to drive one of his companies huge semi-trucks back to our town. I probably was tossing and turning at this point in the dream. I just didn’t know how we were going to drive both vehicles safely. I knew that the hubby would have to dr...

Time Out for Rockin' Grandmas

ChrisB (aka Ms Cellania) introduced our Rockin' alter egos in a past post - just for the humor of it all. My response was to jokingly suggest we use it to our advantage and create our own award which linked back to our blogs. Well -- she jumped right on the b*tch bar and rode it!! Chris has already presented several Rockin' Grandmas and now it is my turn. Drum roll ------------------ ba dum ba dum ba dum ba dum ba dum. Take a bow mjd! Molly is one smart cookie at Return of The White Robin ! If I was ever a kid (and I think I may have been at one time) she is the teacher I would have wanted to speak into my life. And the sweet and wise woman wears overalls! Show us your winning smile Suzie! Suzie's Space is one of the most positive places to stop and visit. Suzie is a wonderful grandmother and a wonderful GRANDDAUGHTER at the same time. Generations of love fill her space. Hang this in your pantry, Pat! If you wan...
