109 Degrees

If you can't stay cool... then at least you can make cool faces. A special greeting from my favorite new six year-old neighbor.

Yes, it really was that hot today. The dragonflies stayed close to our small pond. My mom called them Devil's Darning Needles.

We have friendly fish. Each and every time I walk off the patio they surface and beg for food. The hubby hopped in to clean something off of the pond bottom and they swam around between his legs and nibbled on his toes.

In the morning the lily was exquisite. But, the furnace in the sky demanded its toll.

After work, I drove home in a frying pan. The lily and I are both wilted.

Wow, 109 Degrees!!!! I haven't been in that kind of heat in ages. Love all your pics, especially the classic one of your neighbor, lol.

hmm, that is almost 43C, that is hot.
I just loved the photos in this post. Although I now cannot stop thinking about frying pans with wheels and how handy that would be at serving time.

Wow, that is hot. I've never experienced heat like that. Does your frying pan have air conditioning?

Yikes, 109! It has been that hot here also, as it does each and every summer. I am one of those odd people who doesn't get seasonal depressive disorder in the foggy rain, rather, I battle it in the hot summers!

The weather will stay like this for the next two months! Sigh, no rain in sight! My roses go from no blooms, to a bud, to a new bloom and by afternoon, withered and spent looking. If I don't cut them the first morning they open, it is too late by that evening. O.K., now I am whining... sorry!

Hope you have a great weekend!

(I'll try this again) I didn't know anyone lived EAST of the cascades! (grin!) I think it might have something to do with 109 degrees!! (I lived in Oregon on the west side of the mountains for a while). The wilted lily photo was absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous composition and framing, nice color palette - truly gallery quality work! You do wonderful photographs!

Keep the heat over there please. Thanks.

Great dragonfly pics

I guess I shouldn't be complaining that it's in the lower 90s here, huh? I think I would just melt if it got any hotter!

What a fun little neighbor you have there. The pictures are gorgeous. I hope you have a little heat relief in your area.

Blessings!

I love your friendly fish, how cute!

Hope you've found a way to stay cool. It's been hot here and we've been spending a lot of time in the pool.

Oh wow and we melted today at 91!
I remember those sort of days while living in other parts of the world.

LOVED your neighbors picture and those of the flowers and creatures! You take such glorious ones!! Even in that heat! I would be just like that lily...wilting all over myself.

Stay cool!! But then, you ARE cool. And, you rock too!

I am glad that you got that award...'cause you DO!

Hugs,
Sue

That is insanely hot. I have a convention in Vegas next month and am not looking forward to the temps. I wonder if I can wear a tank top and gym shorts when it's time to give my speech.

Cute kid. At least the heat wasn't affecting her so much that she couldn't have a little fun w/screwy faces.

And very cool pond! We have one like that and I even have a couple of fish that look like the one in the photo. Ours are friendly too, but it's a major chore keeping the pond clean because of all the Bufo toads that have decided to call our pond home for the summer. They're loud. They're poisonous (if they ooze on you and you have an open wound/scratch). And I'm sure the fish hate 'em. But I can't figure out how to get rid of 'em.

You must not be far from me where it was 102 for the second day in a row. (yes, I am east of the mtns too) I have been perusing your blog and really enjoyed it. Let's hope tomorrow is cooler!!!

LOVE your pics as always. :)

I hate that kind of heat. Here in TX when it gets over 100, it just takes your breath away and zaps your energy.

Luckily so far our temps have not reached 100....YET. But the rain is still coming, for some it is really bad. I am glad I am on a hill!

i will share our rain if you will share you sunshine! no i don't like it that hot! fantastic photos all of them

I wilt when it's 75 degrees! lol Here in Northern Ontario we don't get the high heat you guys get...if it reaches 90 degrees here, we're miserable! I have a little 6 year old neighbour that makes the same kind of faces as yours! hehe I so enjoyed looking at all your photos, your lilies are gorgeous...even the wilted one:-) I've finally added you to my bloglines so I won't miss any more of your posts!! xox

We had 118* day before yesterday.
I love your good attitude!
Beautiful pond too. The photography is exquisite.
I'm so glad you get to be a good neighbor to the little one. I remember a neighbor from childhood that made such an impression on me as a child. I can still remember what it felt like to be loved by them.

Personally, I love the heat. But I would imagine it's a HUMID heat out there on the west coast which can be pretty miserable, I know. Here on the prairies it's usually pretty dry, so not quite so overbearing.

Your little neighbour looks like a Q-T!

Are you kidding? We were at 98 today. I thought that was nuts.

Stay cool!

I love those pics of the Dragon and Damsel fly.

Miserable. The 2 pics of the lily shows it all.
Tammy said…
Oh my...109 is just too hot! I don't think I'd be able to venture outside, much less make funny faces!
Wonderful pictures, though!
Try to stay cool, Pamela!

I can't say I have ever felt that kind of heat... I melt in 85 degree weather. I can't imagine anything hotter...

Beautiful pictures!

I think the worst feeling is when it's hot outside and you open the car door to get in and the steam melts the makeup off your face. At least it is to me.
Have you ever worked as a professional photographer? Or at least made a little extra cash with a camera?

Certainly seems like you could. Love the lily shot, among others.
