I'm Just Peachy

Look CLOSELY at that yummy juicy nectarine. If it wasn't for Rainier Cherries, I think the nectarine would be my most favorite summer fruit. *Tropical Fruit excluded.

That is why I ate two of them for lunch on Monday. It was my last meal, so to speak, and I wanted something that I would genuinely enjoy.

Tuesday morning I was scheduled to have a mid life crisis. You know -- a colonoscopy. This meant that I was denied dinner on Monday night. Instead, I guzzled water, caplets, more water, and more caplets.

After a miserable night, I was required to get up with the sun, eat no breakfast, and repeat the caplet and water torture one more time. I doubt the need to tell you the intended results. I will concur that it works.

Upon my arrival at the clinic, the nurse assured me that the worst of it was over. She was correct.

I don't remember anything until I heard her calling, "Wake up Pamela, wake up!!!"

Then the Gastroenterologist turned around and asked, "Say, do you like nectarines."

Even in my loopy stage of awakening, I knew that it couldn't be a routine question. Especially when he, the nurse, and the anesthesiologist were all giggling.

I can't believe I am showing this to the world. The doctor saw a strange growth of my colon and maneuvered the microscopic camera in for a closer view.
Yes, indeed! Nectarine Summeripe 4378.
You don't need to enlarge it - take my word for it.
The physicians first encounter with one in over 30 years of practice.
It could only happen to me.

That's not exactly what I meant in my post! Say, aren't you supposed to take those stickers off before you eat the fruit (I wouldn't know as I don't eat fruit).

Thats to funny.
That nectarine looks good though!

Lovely colon.

Those are two words I never thought I would utter in my lifetime.

Bwahaha! ;p

love nectarines, mmm rephrase that, I used to love nectarines!

I'll be having a colonoscopy soon, I must remember not to eat any stickers the day before!

Nectarines are fabulous tasting fruits. My husband was looking over my shoulder as I enlarged the picture. He knew right away that was a nectarine label. The gastroenterologist must have been very thorough and the equipment very sophisticated to find that itty-bitty label, Of course, if you are having a colonoscopy, that is what you want.

I enlarged it. Not because I didn't believe you...but because I think that that is the very best picture I have ever seen....

I love your blog. The title is my mantra!!!

Now I love it even more because you have a nectarine stamp inside your colon and a picture to prove it!

I assume the rest of the procedure looks...dare I say...peachy?

That is absolutely hilarious! How did you manage to eat the sticker, too?
DesLily said…
Absolutely hysterical! LOL.. but it is nice to know that the stickers go right on thru and out again! lol lol
Debs said…
Well other than the sticker, I hope everything else was normal!
I have 4 years before I have to have a colonoscopy.

This is so funny and thank you for sharing with us. I guess you can say you were "testing" your doctor to see if he preformed a thorough job. :)

I love nectarines and cherries. The only fruit I do not like is strawberries and kiwi but that is because of the seeds.

I did send you an email. :) If you don't get it, let me know. :)

hysterical! curious... the drugs they gave me for that last year put me "out of it" for a couple of days. No focus, no brain power, intervals of staring vacantly. The docs said "12 hours, you're fine."

I'm curious if it was just me, or if they are misjudging the effects?? How did you respond?

Stickeritis...or spelled another way...Stickeritass.

Pamela... that is hysterical!!That must have been one sticky sticker to hang on through the whole "cleansing process"!!! ;-)

goofy girl. Just as funny as the story is Amanda commenting "gross mom!"

Those cherries you spoke of, they have them here in the produce section this week. I didn't get any but they sure are pretty. Last week I bought the regular cherries to float in lemonaide to look pretty. What do you do with the R Cherries?

Oh, Pam, that's hilarious!
By the way, I'll finally get to go to FedEx to pick up my package today. I'm mad at them. The other day (the day before I left for Chicago), I stayed home as long as possible to catch them (I couldn't pick it up in person b/c it was already on the truck), then left a note asking if my neighbor could sign for it (we had left a note before with our signature, but they said they needed the sig in person). I had to get to the hospital to be with my dad, so i couldn't wait any longer.
So today is the first day since I've been back that I can go pick it up, and I'm so excited!!! (Don't worry, if the chocolate melted, I have no problem sticking it in the fridge then eating it.)

I nearly spilled by coffee all over the keyboard in giggles. They must have superglued that label on!
I'm guessing that label will be the picture of the day for sometime to come at that clinic!!

I've told you I blushed (blog + crush) you before, but now I'm like totally enamored. That you did this is hilarious. That you did this and posted it on the whole world wide freakin' web? Deliciously wonderful.

Found this while doing a search on "eating stickers" - my toddler's new favorite snack.

Hysterical! I passed it on to my folks - I know they'll get a real kick out of it.
