We have a DVD and can watch an open fire on TV screen until the ashes. The strangest thing is that our visitors pretend the room is warmer when this "fire" is on, lol !
BTW Blogger doesn't like gifs !

This IS cozy looking. Living in central Israel there isn't much call for fireplaces around here. I miss them.

i rarely load any pics thru blogger I use photobucket. I write entire posts with pics in windows live writer and then one click button puts it on blogspot! :o)

I've never tried uploading animated ones, but if you upload directly to Picasa (which is where Blogger stores its stuff) and then just paste the URL from the image into your post it works with any other kind of image. I don't upload from my desktop to Blogger ever. But I've never had a problem getting an image to post that I uploaded to Picasa -- no matter what the Google people tell ya.
