Nothing Much

The White-crowned Sparrow has arrived this week. They are migrating north, so they are only resting, feasting, and entertaining me. Several Cassin's Finch have joined in the fray. I saw a hummingbird on Sunday, probably a Caliope. A pair of Quail, maybe the same ones as last year, have returned to the neighborhood.

The sounds of tires in gravel woke me before the birds were ever singing. I climbed out of bed and peered out the windows to see if someone was stealing our car. After much squinting, I finally realized it was my stomach growling. What?? Do I have a gizzard full of gravel grinding my food down there, like my bird friends?

Yesterday, I was laughing about Sheryl Crow's announcement that to protect the environment we should all use only 1 square of toilet tissue when we visit the room. It brought to mind A story that my dad told me when I was very small. There was a stingy old fellow that wouldn't purchase such niceties because of the cost. Instead, he gathered smooth stones for the job. I should share that with Ms. Crow and put a whole new spin on her career as a ROCK STAR. WhooHoo.

Happy Wednesday.

hahaha! Pebble would be a bit cold wouldn't it?

And here I complain that the hotel's toilet tissues are sometimes hard. I'd take that over a rock anyday!

Sheryl needs to find some other cause than TP!
One sheet?? get real...

Leafs ok but a pebble?! I can't imagine using only one sheet.

Love the bird photo! I would love to see one of those.

I seem to be having trouble leaving a comment.
I'll try again now what did I say! I remember as a very small child visiting a home where they used newspaper- this has always stuck in my mind(it was just after the war and everyone was very poor). But rationing to one sheet is laughable.

I've been doing both these things for ages now. I alternate between the pebble and the paper, I call it "the rock and roll". It makes a nice change to the usual chamber music, since I only have a wind section.

Beccy - I don't know. That may where the term "skin flint" comes from ??

mind the gap
we could use lava rock - thats warm right from crater

Kailani - rough paper. yeah... I like it soft

suzie - Sheryl also has a sleeve that you can wear to wipe your nose or your mouth after you eat. blech

Lisa - not if it's poison oak or ivy.... how about a corn cob?

Chris - one sheet of newspaper wouldn't be so bad. My mom said they used the sears catalogue. That must have been before slick paper

WT - clever clever -- especially the chamber music. we've got a b-r-r-r-r-ass section in ours on winter nights. ha ha ha ha ha

In movies usually the woman checks half naked if somebody is stealing the car, you too ?? the little bird is too cute !

Actually, I'd read that stones were actually used for this purpose in post-Biblical times (and the warning was to avoid using pottery shards). ;-)

Okay. Yuck. I like the little birdie, though. :)

Gattina - no I wear pajamalas.
Masago - ouch!
Melissa - They hang around for over a week and then they are just gone. I think they head for Marnie's house.

I guess she now says she was really kidding but trying to make a point! Sheesh...I love her music and her but me and *1* square ain't gonna get it. And stones??? Um...well...

LOVE the birdie...: )

I love waking up to then singing now. A small group was sitting on my neighbor's roof this am. The two cats were on the bedroom love seat and oh were they in heaven!
Just lost in those birdies...and the birds knew the cats could NOT get 'em! Take THAT you cats!

Have a sweet Thursday~!

Hugs,
Sue

My wife's brother worked in several middle east countries 1974-1976 and he helped re-due the sewer systems in some american buisness whos help was native to the country!! Problem: pebbles used for self hygenie had filled the line finally.

On the View on tv, Rosie Odonnell mentioned the one tp and then said, "obviously Sheryl Crow has not seen my ass!" LOL..

I have always said that the one thing I would never give up is my bug man, my coffee, my computer and now I can add toilet paper....no matter what.....LOL

I heard a report about a prison in Hutchinson, Kansas. In an effort to reduce costs, the warden is only allowing each inmate four rolls of toilet paper per month. Both sets of my grandparents still had outhouses when I was a little girl. We used Sears & Roebuck and Montgomery Ward catalogs in them.
