Hoodie Hoo What?

I saw this sign when I went to pick up Auntie Fern last Thursday.

Do you know about Hoodie Hoo Day? I didn't.

You can google it, or just check out this link to Holiday Insights. This is what is says:

Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day

When : Always on February 20

On this winter day, people go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo".

It is a day to chase away winter and bring in spring. After all, everyone in the northern hemisphere are sick and tired of winter at this point and a little crazy being cooped up inside all winter and not seeing the sun.

Did you know? Hoodie Hoo Day is a copyrighted holiday. It was created and is provided, courtesy of the great folks at Wellcat.com

Well -- there you have it. We missed it. Thank goodness.

Well I've never heard of Hoodie-Hoo Day so I've learned something today. Will probably have forgotten all about it by next year. LOL

The description sounds like someone went to the bathroom and discovered, too late, that they were out of toilet paper and had to use their hands. Then they went outside to shake them dry. But that's just my opinion.

Never heard of this one! Does Hallmark have a card for it yet?

In all my nearly 40 years...I've NEVER once heard of this holiday. Maybe it's a good thing Hallmark hasnt heard of it either? They'd find a way to capitalize on it for sure.

Oh wait... I know what it is! It's the day when all of residents of Who-ville parade around their town in brand spankin new Hoodies! How could I POSSIBLY forget THAT?? Quite evidentally the person that wrote the sign misspelled Who.

Aw bummer! I am so ready for spring and I would have loved to celebrate! In private, of course. Can't see myself saying "Hoodie Hoo" in the library or WalMart or someplace like that...

You people in the northern hemisphere are really strange sometimes.
Yes Pamela, there are several songs about Ned Kelly so one of them may well have made its way to the States.

I refuse to celebrate copyrighted holidays. But I would consider going out on the 21 and going Hoo Hoo Hoo. That wouldn't violate any copyright. Unless Santa Claus has that reserved.

Honey, I've never heard of it. But, I'll go outside right now screaming if it'll make this cold go away. LOL!... I know I'm off a few days, but it's the thought that counts!!

Even I- who know about lost holidays such as May Day- had never heard of Hoodie Hoo day! Although I can see how being cooped up all winter can make us all want to run around and holler...;)

Dear Pamela ~~ New to me too. Wonder if it would work in reverse and get rid of the heat and fires we are having in my state. Glad to hear you have small feet, but you had better lay off the choate a bit.
Take care, Love, Merle.

I am pretty sure that is the day the weather got really cold and it started snowing. Probably because we missed the day.
