more chicks....

Friday we went to visit an ailing friend at a convalescence home.
We spotted these two Killdeer chicks and I HAD to run and get my camera. I had no idea they would be running around on April 13. Early Hatch?

Mommy Killdeer let out some sweet (but loud) "killdeeee, killdeee" calls.

They listened to her call and followed her lead to move
away from me

And when I tried to catch up with them she hid them beneath her wings.

Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.

First things first...your comment at my place about the nurse saying, 'chill out' really ruffles my tail feathers. Find another doctor and don't let this go on too long. There is a reason for it and chilling out isn't the solution. If I had 'chilled out' when diagnosed, three months would have been too long. There is something causing the problem and it's probably an easy fix...now !

Love the pics of the birds. We don't have that species here.

Cool looking birds, but can they really kill a deer?

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find lice. WT.

I love kildeer!!! My mom has a pair that come every year and lay eggs in her rock pile. I'm sure they're no where near ready to hatch, though. We just barely got rid of the snow!
I love watching nature at work. Thanks for sharing these.

Wow. I've never seen that bird before. Even with my missing birdie DNA, I really love that picture of her protecting her babies. :)
