Fun Monday - How I named my Blog

Mariposa, todays hostess, asked Fun Monday participants to tell her what is in a name. The name of our blogs, to be exact.

It was a dark and stormy night.......

NOT. It was actually a hot and dusty afternoon. As I mentioned in my previous post (Elvis Sighting) our backyard was in a very torn up mood. I was sifting rocks, and had been for several months.

Blogging wasn't anything I'd really considered seriosly, but I had been reading a few. In fact, my daughter Karmyn was a beginner blogger. That day I scrubbed the dirt out of my fingernails and sat down at my computer to take a rest. Everything around my computer and in every room of the house was covered with a fine layer of top soil. I know that I groaned out loud. We'd been so busy on that mess in the yard that the inside of the house had been horribly neglected.

That is when I decided that, "The Dust Will Wait."

I opened blogger and wrote my very first post, "My Dusty First Hello."

Twenty months have passed and I'm still writing. And the dust still waits.

Check out Mariposa's Tales and the other participants today. I hear some of them are also sharing their favorite dishes. (Mariposa has Sushi. Aaaaaaack!)

I always figured that "The Dust Could Wait" was your personal philosophy and one I admire quite a bit.

I've had a torn up backyard before. It's not fun. Hope yours turned out better than mine!

This Fun Monday was pretty simple wasn't it? I was glad to see that though it has been a long weekend and week before.
I love the name of your blog since it reminds me of the poem I once told you about.

Now I want to change my blog title into bottom cramps, lol !! That really sounds much better !! and I can assure you my dust is waiting too !! usually until I can write "merde" on the furniture, which means shit in french !

I could have never guessed that! Happy Fun Monday!

I have always loved the name of your blog and it would certainly fit mine as I try not to look around me, right now, as I sit at the computer!

Ok don't listen to mum, her house is always spotless, mine on the other hand is a total mess and I can't even blame yard work because that's a mess as well!

The dust will wait, and I think that you have a very unique blog. I dust when my alergies start to flair up....LOL But sometimes I just say it is part of the antique look.....judy

I believe you asked if I wish I had chosen a different name? Yes, sometimes. But it's turning into my moniker everywhere, so I guess it's okay. I love yours, as I try to live more like this as well.

i hate seeing dust, but i also hate dealing with it. i'd rather do just about anything else. i think it's genetic, 2 things my mom always hated were dusting and unloading the dishwasher. guess what i dont like? yup. go figure.

The old dust is waiting over here at my house too. It's been waiting about 3 months or so. That is probably the last thing on my agenda.

interesting how you came to name your blog. Its very unique!

glad I found out in the big world of blogs too :)
I've always thought you had the best blog name ever.

It always makes me feel better when I stop here rather than cleaning my house.

And here I thought it was from that saying that comes with children. :) I like your tale!

I can see why that computer and the blog world was calling out to you. You have a way with stories/words that is fun to read. I'm glad you let the dust be and began your blog. Enjoy...

Dust is my friend. Great story (Elvis too!)

I've always loved the name of your blog. Not only is the blog itself inspiring, but its very name is!
So funny, but I wrote a post about this very topic a couple weeks ago but haven't published it yet — it's waiting in my drafts folder for a rainy day.

I got a sampler when my youngest was a baby that said

Cleaning and cooking can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So settle down, cobwebs, and dust, go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

The baby is 31 now and my dust is still waiting!

I love your story! I especially love your attitude towards dust. I literally just don't see it in my house (most likely because I don't really look). I love your pics and am glad the dust inspired you!

Much more satisfying to be creative and reach out to friends and rest of world than to fret over passing a white glove inspection. The right blog name just fell onto your keyboard.

"It was a dark and stormy night" AAAHAHAHAHAHA! I've always loved the title of your blog, and the banner. For one thing it's just cool and for another I've always secretly wished I could write that neat :o) And I hear the aaack on sushi!
My dust is waiting, too, along with the dust bunnies and endless supply of dog hair. I am drowning in allergens over here. Cute Header!

Pamela, at my age, I agree. And ever since the first time I stepped foot on your blog's welcome mat...I loved it!!!

I like that title AND the idea behind it.

BTW, yes I think you can probably make the Laksa Lemak with Tofu instead of fish. Just put the tofu in at the end so it doesn't get cooked for too long.

I agree -- the dust CAN wait. There is much more to life and living.

Pamela,

Thanks for stopping by my blawg. Chocolate for breakfast huh; that's dedication. Have you noticed if there's difference between dark & milk chocolate? My body is much happier when it's dark. (Now everyone reading this is like, "WTH is that girl taking about??" Hee)
I love your header. Now that I know it's not a stock photo you touched up in photoshop, I'm super impressed.

I love the name of your blog. It's one of my favorites. It's so true with bloggers too- the dust, the laundry, the dishes, etc- all that stuff often sits waiting at my house.

It is funny how the names of our blogs come about. My first blog was Stranded in the Mountains and I was literally stranded for four days but my sister and daughter thought it sounded too depressing. It was springtime and I thought of The Open Window as a second poetry blog but then in turned into my "main" blog and I like the name.

Hugs to you!!

You know, yours is actually one of my favorite blog names out there, always brings a smile to my face, so it's fun to learn the story behind it! ;-)

I love it! I think of you frequently when I start to stress out about the state of my house. Then I look at my little guy growing up so fast and I don't want to miss a second of that so. . .my dust waits, too.

Yours is one of my favorite blog titles - and in the new house, it is SO MUCH harder to let that dust wait...

Haven't been by to visit much, but when life settles down, I'll pop in on you more often!

I have always loved your blog name. I really enjoyed reading the story behind it!
Life is too short and moves entirely too fast to always keep a home sanitary 24/7! Dust bunnies can be pets right? ;)

(this coming from a previous neurotic housekeeper until I realized my children were growing up!)

Thanks for sharing!

That yard renovation thing is tiring, causing house neglect and creates a lot of dust. It is a great blog name.
