Fun Monday, The Anniversary Model

Happy 1st Anniversary to FUN MONDAY. One year ago a single photo request from Vicki in Oklahoma and Peter in Willowtree, NSW Australia, inspired what has become to many a weekly necessity. There have been a multitude of subjects that share a common denominator: FUN.

Last weeks host passed the duties forward to the original Mistress of Ceremonies: Catch The Light.

Vicki wants us to look back to January 22, 2007 at that first post, My View From...

But, wait! There is more. If you look now each can throw in his/her first blogging post for no extra charge. Mine was June 11, 2006 and had an inspirational title: My Dusty First Hello!

In case your curiosity is still not satiated, I have uploaded two pictures from last night. These are photos taken with my new Christmas present. The one on the right is my very first night shot.
( I promise I'll get better at it.)

So we post a picture from our front door? Got it! I'm playing! Hey ... that night picture was good! It lit up the porch, but the amazing thing is that it picked up the stars! I have great respect for that, because my camera doesn't even pick up the light from gigantic buildings at night! Ooooh Aaaaaah Fabulous new toy!

I remember how novel I thought you handled the FM last year; the "poster" makes your photo look so "official".

LOVE the night views of snow falling (love any views of snow falling...especially if I can reach out and touch it :/).

You didn't have a small group that first time either. In my mind it was only about 5-8 people that first time, I see it was more like 20 and I love the "Pamela in her Pajamelas" Too funny!

I like the night photo. It snowed here all day, but then quit in the afternoon.

If I had more packing peanuts, I might make my yard look like that. We get so excited about a skiff of snow. My students stop everything if they see even one snowflake.

I was watching the news the other day and noticed the weather guy for Spokane was talking about snow for Idaho and Washington. We have a friend in Mosses Lake and he was saying it is cooler than normal this winter. But, snow falling is always beautiful. It is when it gets very cold, blowing, and you have to shovel it when it doesn't look so beautiful.

An Old Cold Spot

My brother Mike emailed me this photo last night.  He said this was a goodbye salute that he snapped today in his garage where this old freezer has been chugging away since 1988.  That was the year our mama decided she was tired of bending over and digging through it.  Besides, she no longer needed the capacity and hadn't for several years. Mike and my sister-in-law  spent the next 25 years "digging" through this old freezer.  My sis-in-law was very good at keeping it and the cupboards stocked.  The two of them kept promising each other that "It is going to die soon, so we will just keep it until that day." Twenty-five years may seem like a very long life for a freezer.  It is MUCH older than that. Apparitions in my Garden

Karmyn is the host of Fun Monday this week with a subject that is near and dear to her heart. Not to mention her knees and fingers. But I mentioned them anyway. The subject? --- What's Growing In Your Garden. As soon as I signed up I grabbed my camera and headed out the back door. Alyssum, lady's mantle, gaillardia, Jupiter beard, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember is blooming in this photo. We didn't put as many annuals in this year so I miss all the yellows and reds that we often enjoy. But, something else showed up in that surprised me. Can it be that my yard is haunted? Bird Voyeur

The sweet little digital camera that the hubby purchased (after I dropped our old one) has encouraged me to do a little more walking. Last week I took it with me when I walked up the "creek" path, which doubles for joggers and bikers as well. I've seen beavers, mink, deer, birds, birds, birds, and once the tail end of a bear run running away through the brush. Of course, without a camera. Now I carry it often. This time I was watching the Belted King Fisher performing an acrobatic display and chattering at the ducks and geese in his fishing territory. I was zooming in on him in a tree across the water when I spotted what I thought was a huge wasp or hornet nest very high in the tree. (Thanks to Susan for bringing up bee's today.) The heavy binoculars were at home, so I continued to try to see it through my camera. Then, a weird movement caught my eye.
