GOOEY on Cracker

My mom made cookies, cakes, and pies when I was growing up. It was usually for a special occasion.

Once in awhile we would beg for something sweet after lunch. Baking was time consuming, so she would grab a bag of powdered sugar, add some rich cream and butter (from our Guernsey), and add some real vanilla.

She named it GOOEY on cracker. That was its name. We named things when I was a kid.

When I treated my own children to GOOEY on cracker, I didn't always make my own GOOEY. I would cheat and buy a can of frosting from the grocery store.

I had some leftover frosting today - and I couldn't help myself. I even took a bite before I took the picture.

All you need is graham crackers and frosting.

My mom always told us to get the hell out of the kitchen.

Then, I had to help make a recipe book in first grade for Mother's Day, a copy of which went to every mother.

All I knew how to make was freshly squeezed orange juice (not that we ever made any, just hypothetically).

The recipe called for one ingredient: oranges.

Gooey on cracker, how cute.

I prefer my gooey straight--no cracker.

My kids LOVE gooey on cracker - and yes, I cheat and use the store bought frosting. But, it doesn't taste the same as when you made it.

I love gooey on cracker, mom. So does Curly Mop. But I have to be careful giving it to the Mister because he will finish off the (store-bought) frosting and then get a tummy ache.

Does it come in a tube?

We never named it but we had the same think! ! ! :) - I do make them up for the boys occasionally.

Mmm. Who could refuse such yummies?

Is it wrong to admit that I know about frosting in a tube because it's easier to eat that way? Probably. Don't tell anyone, Pamela.
Dear Pamela. Ohhh yum. I think I want some of that for breakfast. How decadent.

Gooey-licious!!

I LOVE that you named things...it makes them taste 10% better. Sometimes there's nothin' better than the taste of nostalgia :).

Oh good grief, I better not let Anna see this post... she''ll want gooey on everything! All you have to do is whisper cake to her and she starts drooling, LOL! Lord knows I have plenty of gooey right now- out of the can but tinted pink and green. Wants some? It's purty!

every time my mom made a cake she'd spread the leftover frosting on graham crackers. Yum. She still does it, and I still love them!

wow...that's pretty creative. I think the homemade one sounds better than frosting!

Gooey on a spoon works too! I haven't had breakfast yet, so this was a good post for me!!!!

I've never been a gooey fan. I'd just rather have the cake, or the cracker. Unless it's cream cheese gooey, then I might indulge.

Oh boy, there's a treat to be enjoyed in moderation.

Currently I'm trying not to dive right into the five boxes of girl scout cookies I bought from my coworker. Three days in my possession and I've already started on the mini-brownies, tag-a-longs, and thin-mints. Only a box of Samoas and another box of thin-mints remain unopened.

That sounds yummy. I will have to try as I love sugary things.

That sounds like something even I could make. Although, knowing Girlie Girl, she would lick off the frosting and throw away the cracker! LOL! I should just save myself some time and give her the can of frosting and a spoon!

Frosting is ok but it just doesn't have the same taste as that Gooey on cracker. Must have been the real cream from good ol' Janny.

Wow, your gooey sounds good. When I was a kid my mom used to make frosting for graham crackers too. She'd mix powedered sugar with just enough milk to make the right consistency. She'd then add color for fun. My sister and I loved it.
