Precious Little Notes

We have such amazing ways to communicate in this ever increasing mobile world. Just think of the tools we use to contact family and friends other than  meeting face to face.   I'm sure I don’t know half the current terms that describe the electronic media that is available for purchase.  Do you ever stand wide-eyed and act perhaps a little embarrassed when someone speaks about an upgrade or an innovative new gadget that completely baffles you?

With that in mind, I feel that some things should never become antiquated or or go out of style. Things like writing words on paper.  Things like thank you notes.  Especially thank you notes from grand-children.

I hold them in my hands and run my fingers across the paper that the children held in their hands.  My eyes mist over when the words they wrote are read aloud.  Simple and sweet.  After the notes have been smiled over and caressed, and maybe shared with a few friends, they can be stored in a safe place.

Later, I can pull them out to read and touch again.

Buttercup adds a little art work!

Jammin' adds a little bit of school information.  Maybe mom told him the letter was too short.

Dear Grandma, Thank you for the Batman Costume.  You can see I'm running all over the place in my mask and cape. Love, The Caboose.

You kids are so welcome!

Someday, when they are grown and have children of their own,  I hope they read this in one of my published blog books.

I hope they hold it in their hands and run their fingers across the pages that I held in mine. Perhaps their eyes may mist over when the words are read aloud.  Simple and sweet.  After the book has been smiled over and caressed, and maybe shared with a few friends, it will be stored in a safe place.

And later pulled out to read and touch again.

That was so sweet. Little tears started in my eyes. I find things my son wrote or drew from time to time and just touching that paper takes me back to when he was little. Precious memories can be held in those pieces of paper.
I keep them too..and tuck them away in my old hatboxes..I scrapbook many of them. I still have some of their coloring books! :)

Kudos to mom for teaching them proper etiquette and letter writing! You are so right....nothing beats a hand written note. It comes from the heart.

SO precious! YES! It's the paper from my wee ones I enjoy most too! I let my grandkids break in my new planner so I will have a piece of them with me always. :)

So so sweet! Yes I would keep those forever! Especially love Cabooses effort. Around here however, thanks tend to come in hugs. Hugs are a major part of our life. I just don't say it, I do it a lot!

I love that their mom made them write notes. I love that you blogged it. I love that you are going to have blog published so that it will be holdable and huggable and re-readable and take-to-bedable.

great post, Pamela.

Now you made me curious what do you mean by "my published blog books" ?

My little grandson will be 2 months old on Jan 17, a little early to write me notes, lol !

This... this is why I like you so much...

You've a heart of gold and so do your grands... I hope they too... will always cherish the memories of the times spent with (or thinking about) you.

I love these little notes, they are so precious. I've still got a few that my girls wrote when they were kids and now, like you, I'm collecting from the grand children.

You always made me write Thank-You notes to my grandparents when I received a gift....

and I've realized how important the hand-written word is. It is the only personal thing left anymore in this world of e-mail and texting.

That was really touching. Thanks for sharing. You are absolutely right. I remember Grandma always used to send me a birthday card in the mail and I would always feel SO special and so "real" when I got that. Nothing beats mail. Especially with a hand written note.
