Looks Warm This Evening?
I woke up at sunrise yesterday, grabbed my pillow and comforter, padded quietly out to the hammock on the deck, and snuggled down in hopes for another hour or so of slumber.
I may have drifted off for a moment. Not long. I realized that my little blanket wasn't going to keep me comfortable in the cool moist dawn air.
Easy answer, you say? Just pad back in and grab another blanket?
Nope!
The sprinklers came on and surrounded my one dry spot with more cooling splatters of water. They don't call them rainbirds for nothing.
So, I just wrapped myself up, waited, and shivered. I listened to the birds waking up - so it wasn't time wasted.
If you take a look at the right side of the photo, you can just make out that the net is still on the pond. It will probably be a few weeks before the water lilies provide the fish protection from the marauding King Fishers and Giant Herons.
As for other news, I'm just waiting for that call from California - where I'll be heading for the arrival of our 10th grandchild.
Do you think we need a net set up to discourage the storks, too. (I'm making myself laugh.)

Your yard is so lovely.
"Net to discourage the storks" had me laughing also. LOLOLOL.
I have a little something for you over at my blog, my friend!
What part of California are you heading for?
Storks, I thought babies were found under gooseberry bushes..

11 grand kids but only 2 great grandies yet.
I seen a Painted Bunting in my backyard last week!! Never seen one of those in Oklahoma. I thought of you cause of your bird watching.
I've enjoyed catching up with you, today. My class 1961, gets together every month with a fifth Saturday, for lunch, in the old hometown. I keep in touch with several classmates.
I love your "sign" photo!:-)
I would love more grandchildren but I am very thankful for the three I already have.
I am not sure if I could have stayed out there and froze to death. I hate being cold. Glad you had that morning experience though.
and -- ahem -- WHERE in california? close enough to visit?
