Wildflowers in Winter - A Winter Image

This is week two in Elizabeth Joy's plan to rise above the winter blues and to plant the blogosphere with wild flowers. I'm just getting my post in under the wire. Whew.

Today, during my lunch break, I took these pictures of Teasel. They grow along the edge of the creek that comes out of the mountains and cuts through the middle of town.

Many of you crafty people will recognize it as a popular addition to winter centerpieces and decor. I prefer to see teasel decorating the snowy walk, and providing a place for small birds to perch or hide.

The snow was melting today. Yesterday it provided fluffy white caps and coats on the frozen plants around the region.

I love teasel in any season.

To join in the fun, make tracks over to the Wildflowers in Winter wonderland. Enjoy!

I like teasel in any season too. I also like the picture of your teasel by the water. These teasel pods make a nice addition to fall and winter bouquets of fresh flowers.

I love the contrast between the wintery snow and the plant on the blue water.

Gorgeous pictures. I come by just to see what you've photographed even if I don't always leave a message.
Love that second pic especially. Well done.

I especially love the first one because it looks like the Teasel dance and stretch toward the frozen bank. Like snow fairies.

To think teasels were brought to North America to comb wool and now they've escaped from the east all the way to the Cascades! I didn't know they were wildflowers out your way too. Nice shots.

My mom still has the "teasel tree" my sister made for Christmas 40 years ago! The gold spray paint is probably all that is holding it together, but maybe not.

Great photos.

I took some photos of something similar the other day. We have lots of it growing around here. I wonder if it is the same thing. I've always thought it was just some sort of sticker plant. I don't remember any flowers. This spring and summer I'll be on the lookout. I have a ball of the little stickers on my hearth. They stick together just like velcro.

I love the photos BUT, is teasel those things I have to pull out of the dog's fur and my socks when we go hiking? IF so, you can have my teasel, too.

Very pretty winter pics. I see at least it isn't too cold there as there is water that isn't frozen.

Beautiful photos, Pam. We're having snow, today, with measurable accumulation. Perhaps I'll wonder over toward the creek for a couple pictures! Snow on winter wildflowers is lovely!
