Fun Monday #17 The favorite ----

Today's Fun Monday is being hosted by Willowtree. He wants to see our favorite Coffee Mug, our favorite glasses for drinks of any kind, and for extra credit even our favorite plate. He said we could get creative.

I'm going to stick with the mugs.

A precious gift from a Japanese Exchange Student.
Masami stayed with us eleven years ago and has kept in touch. She returned to spend Christmas with us one year and presented me with my very first FINE CHINA as a Gift.

It was a starter set of Mikasa oh oh.. I did this too late at night. It is Noritake. My TO DO list has a notation to complete this set one day. For now, I enjoy looking at it.

This stonewear is my preferred coffee, tea, or hot chocolate drinking mugs. They fit perfectly in my palms and warm my fingers.

We have many other mugs that we have collected over the years.
We have colorful mugs, advertising mugs, souvenir mugs, mismatched sets of mugs... you get the picture. Some of you may remember the one with the moose turds. I' m sparing you all the pain of viewing any more of those choice collectors items.

Pete did say we could get creative with our post
. So, I have decided to share with you the mug I have loved the longest. I do worry a little about what he will say when he sees this. Earlier today I asked him to make a face while I was testing the digital camera. That was the truth. It was only tonight when I decided to stick with the mug portion of Fun Monday that this creation came to be. In Picture It, anyway.

On behalf of everyone who will come behind me, I just want to thank you for not re-posting that moose turd mug.

My mother loved Mikasa, they make real quality.

You sure do have a mean streak in you, and I'm sure Wal agrees!

I love fine china ... I have a beautiful King George teaset that I call my 'special moments' teapot. I like to use it when I really need to take a few quiet minutes, like a little ritual thing. ;-)

ps. I'd forgotten about the turd mug so I just revisited ... now I remember why I forgot. LOL

I love that last "mug," lol. My favorite coffee mug is Pomona from the Portmeirion collection. Was lucky enough to get it while living in England, where they make them.

How cute! I forgot to include a mug my kid drew of Roger with long hair - it was funny. And my husband's fav mug, which isn't politically correct.

CUTE!

As you might imagine, we have quite the eclectic collection of mugs around here. About three weeks ago, I made coffee for a mom during a playdate, not really registering that I put it in a cup from the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. "So, uh, where did that mug come from?" the mom asked casually but eagerly. Unfortunately, I had to disappoint her and tell her that neither of us were drug or alcohol addicts, someone in the house just has a penchant for collecting weird stuff.

Which is an addiction in itself, of course.

I see that you like a mug that fits your hands nicely. That is important to me also, particularly when the mug is the warmest thing in the room!

Your China set is gorgeous. It's always more enjoyable when there's a history behind it too. I can't wait to finally use things I love, without fear of having them broken (which is a daily occurrence around here.)

I dig the china set. Never used to be into that stuff, but getting married has a way of forcing a guy to heighten his domestic interests.

Ooh - I've got a set of Noritake silverware that would go beautifully with your china. Wanna have dinner party? ;)
You know, I LOVED your previous photo header -- I didn't think it could get better than that.

And yet, this one is equally perfect. Well done!

Hahahaha, moose turds! ew. hehehe, that has great appeal to my inner kid.

As for the last mug though, I imagine it'd be quite a surprise if you opened up your cupboard one groggy morning and found that face razzing you like so :-D
Dear pamela. I thought I commented on Monday.. oh well. I love the Japanese tea set. My mother bought a beautiful one when we were in Japan, and she also looks at it every day! But my little bro broke a cup...
