Willie and Waylan

We took the long way home today. This picture emphazises why we call it living in the valley.

We are caught in a painters pallette between winter and spring.

Dropping over the last hill, we found ourselves in the direct path of Willie and Waylan, two Percherons, that were being lead from the north pasture to the stable for a good scrubbing. Look at those huge feet.

The owner said, "Sure you can take a picture. People are always asking if they can take pictures. But, you have to promise me that you'll check out our web site and let your readers know that these big boys are mighty purty when they are clean and dressed up. "

Willie was very friendly and enjoyed the attention. He weighs in at 2000 pounds. I think that is why we hit it off so quickly. His buddy Waylan, is about 200 pounds trimmer.

As promised, I linked to their home page plus grabbed their getting hitched photo.

Well, hitched to a Carriage and taking part in someone's wedding ceremony.

Imagine riding into the sunset behind these beautiful creatures?

"painters pallette between winter and spring" that is so true. What a great description.

I always consider these the ugly months. But I guess there are so many ways to look at the pause before rebirth.

By the way, you inspired my post today;)

I went to the site to visit Waylon, Willie and the boys...why are they out of business? I'd have thought a Carriage Co. with those lovely animals would be very popular!

Do they really style their manes like that? Why does the hair look so short? They are very beautiful animals!

Wow, that's the first time I've been able to pick someone's taste in music just by looking at their horses!

I haven't seen horses like that before. Like a beautiful version of Clydesdales (which we see a lot of).

"We are caught in a painters pallette between winter and spring."

Yeah, I saw Kelly picked up that line, too, but since I had already "cut" it, I figured I'd "paste" it (it was a GREAT line!).

I have to tell ya, I thought of the episode in Seinfeld when Kramer bought too much at the local price club, and ended up feeding "beef-a-reno" to a horse that led a Hansom Cab...the horse responded with a noxious gas episode. Funny episode, it was, and I'm sure Waylon and Willie would NEVER do "that" (and I bet their owners never feed 'em beef-a-reno either!).

How'd I get so far behind with reading YOUR stuff? geez....

Everything about this post is pretty. The scenery, the horses, etc. Those gray Percherons are beautiful. That is what our girls would look like gray. They are such a nice breed. I am getting ready to go out and work with our girls here in just a little bit. Thanks for sharing the site. I am going there now.
