Spell your Favorite Thai Food



There is a very small family owned Thai restaurant one block away from our daughter's apartment in Portland.  We love to eat there.

Last week I noticed a couple of interesting things on the lunch menu.  I highlighted the "specials" with a little red stick pin.



When Amanda passes her national court recorder test, we're obliged to host a celebratory dinner for friends and family at this yummy little place. 

The people who work there are aware of our plans and can't wait to feed us some of our favorite dishes:  Crispy Basil, Pad Thai, and Green Mango Salad.

There will be Stir-Fly and Pictures of Water for those who are a bit more adventuresome.

Hhmm, sounds yummy ! I have been eating Vietnames yesterday with a friend, the menu looks very much like yours, lol ! It's very very good and nearly the same price 6 € (9 $)! What I like is that I can eat with my friend in the restaurant and take away the same plate for my better half who eats it in the evening.
Concerning Fun Monday, I mixed it up with the dates, I am host on 28 ! Sorry, I am getting old, lol !

The thing I love about our time in history is the multicultural exchange especially with food. I love that we can go to a restaurant and eat in 'another country' and it is only blocks away from a different cultural experience. We have many we enjoy. My husband frequents Pagolac's near his work which has one dish meals for very little. I believe it is Vietnamese. He has a coworker from India who opened a restaurant. We really enjoyed the buffet there and it was great that there was no pork in the dishes (I don't eat pork) but they had lamb and goat, which would probably bother some people. Of course there was butter chicken which is a favourite of many and was very yummy. In your menu, I am thinking that salmon looks pretty yummy.

I have some truly beautiful "pictures of water" that I would be honored to supply to this restaurant, and I'm also in favor of "stir fly" don't give the little buggers a chance to settle on your food.

I've never been a big fan of Thai food but my sister loves it! I remember once eating a dish called Wicked Island Princess (or something like that). It was so spicy I thought I was going to pass out! LOL!

LOL!

My brother and I often eat "chinese" for lunch and there are two places near the office - one where the menu is perfect and the other makes up crack up laughing at the typos.

I'm trying either the Seafood Prik Phao or the Fish Rad Prik. I already make a mean stir-fly and I have a picture of some water on my kitchen ceiling.

An Old Cold Spot

My brother Mike emailed me this photo last night.  He said this was a goodbye salute that he snapped today in his garage where this old freezer has been chugging away since 1988.  That was the year our mama decided she was tired of bending over and digging through it.  Besides, she no longer needed the capacity and hadn't for several years. Mike and my sister-in-law  spent the next 25 years "digging" through this old freezer.  My sis-in-law was very good at keeping it and the cupboards stocked.  The two of them kept promising each other that "It is going to die soon, so we will just keep it until that day." Twenty-five years may seem like a very long life for a freezer.  It is MUCH older than that. Apparitions in my Garden

Karmyn is the host of Fun Monday this week with a subject that is near and dear to her heart. Not to mention her knees and fingers. But I mentioned them anyway. The subject? --- What's Growing In Your Garden. As soon as I signed up I grabbed my camera and headed out the back door. Alyssum, lady's mantle, gaillardia, Jupiter beard, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember is blooming in this photo. Bird Voyeur

The sweet little digital camera that the hubby purchased (after I dropped our old one) has encouraged me to do a little more walking. Last week I took it with me when I walked up the "creek" path, which doubles for joggers and bikers as well. I've seen beavers, mink, deer, birds, birds, birds, and once the tail end of a bear run running away through the brush. Of course, without a camera. Now I carry it often. This time I was watching the Belted King Fisher performing an acrobatic display and chattering at the ducks and geese in his fishing territory. I was zooming in on him in a tree across the water when I spotted what I thought was a huge wasp or hornet nest very high in the tree. (Thanks to Susan for bringing up bee's today.) The heavy binoculars were at home, so I continued to try to see it through my camera. Then, a weird movement caught my eye.
