Yesterday's SKY

Cloud of pastel pink green

Rainbow arc

Hearing theme from close encounters?

No photoshopping in these pictures.

Does anyone else think these are strange messages in the sky?

(The color may be from a fading Circum Horizontal Arc?)

The last one looks like you're being invaded!

Me thinks those might be floating UFO's in the last shot.
Beautiful photos...and as usual, I learned something here:
Circum Horizontal Arc?
Sounds like something my doctor mentioned when my back went out.

YES that last one does look a a bit suspect! Looks like an invasion of sorts.

Wow ! you were lucky to shoot such a sky !!
wow, beautiful sky shots no matter what kind of messages they are conveying. the middle does look like it could have been caused by a circum horizontal arc, but i wouldn't know cause just 3 minutes ago is when i learned of those things. :)

I think they're God's version of Smoke Signals... in Morse Code.

..-..--..-...-.---

Did you get the message?

I agree that the last one looks a little suspicious. Interesting messages indeed.
Women!!! Those are things created by a man so you could enjoy beautiful things in your lives, besides handsome men. Actually they are ice crystals and in some places they are called sun dogs. The cloud formations suggest mighty strong winds aloft. The sun dogs, I think, mean a change in the weather.

The clouds almost look like saucer shapes.

Even before I read your comment I was thinking that the sky looked strange and unlike any I had seen before. Don't know what to make of it but very pretty.

Nothing suspicious, unless beauty is suspicious. Wonderful photos.

Wow, what a sky! And what variety! That last one kinda gives me the willies!!!!
Very alien-like. I added you to my blog list as a favorite. I love reading your posts! I'm so glad that Kelly at Pass the Torch told me to take a look.

Great pictures of the sky. I've noticed some really strange looking clouds here the last couple days too, but now the air is thick with smoke from grass fires in the next county.
It's going to be a long hot summer..

J calls the rainbow effect a sun dog and says they are a sign of a change in weather.

I love the UFO clouds!

I love funky clouds. I saw a few yesterday, but didn't have a camera (OH NO!!)

I see one now too, but it's nearly dark and I've decided I'd rather look at it, than dig for my camera;;))

I have some bird photos for you.

Hope you had a good weekend!

That last one looks a little freaky. I've never seen cloud formations like that before.

Marvelous! Adore the last. Explodes the imagination..... Do I sense a new mythology being written even now?

I agree with the previous commenters - it's a Sun Dog! We mostly see them only in winter here. I get so excited over them that it's silly. :)
And some 1600 miles away, I was caught in a hailstorm.

Love those sundogs!

I just think they're beautiful..I didn't think "weird" though like everyone else...the last one just looks pretty and shimmery to me!

We had lots of clouds the past few mornings and now we're headed for a week of sunshine!
What about you, my East Washington friend? :)

According to fellow guests at the hotel I was in last week, there was a double rainbow in the sky in Richmond, VA. Wish I would've seen it.

Wonderful sky photos, and so funny, I just put up my post for today and did a series of sky photos from today, because it kept changing. That last one of yours is really cool.

The rainbow arc does look like a Sun Dog, which must be the same as a Circum Horizontal Arc. These may be relatively common but seen only when the sun is 22 degrees in the sky so people tend to miss them.

Great sky photography, Pamela.

those ufo cloaking devices these days .... they're pretty dang good.

Wish they would put some scrolling art work on them though, like the blimps do when they fly over.

Great childhood memory. Love those blimps.
