I give you the Marvelous Magical....Ms Tessy

My post title is a little plagiarism from the Musical Cats.

As summer arrived, our Marvelous Magical Ms Tessy (The Contessa) was plagued with matted hair on her underside. She constantly grooms and vomits hairballs. Aaaauugh!

Plus, she was almost as cranky as I was last week during my blogging withdrawals. (According to the hubby)

A couple of days ago

today

So, today he took her to a groomer where he said she was very well behaved. The woman gently buzzed the offending fur away and left her with look of a...well ... a skinny CAT!

(Maybe a summer groom was part of her routine before we found the old beauty at the animal shelter. We've had her 2 1/2 years - which puts her between 10 and 11 years old.)

With the computer and the cat both on the mend - life at The Dust should be back to abnormal.

Poor Tessy - At least she doesn't have that skinny lion look.

Do they not look funny?! Birddog and I had a persian that we had to have shaved every year. His hair would mat so bad! Does she act embarrassed? Our Oohbooh did at first then he acted like he really enjoyed his haircut.

Hope to see you more!

I have never seen a shaved cat in my life and Tessy looks so cool! I bet she feels a lot better too. Long or short hair, she's just darn pretty either way.

of the cats left here (we lost yet another, now they are down to 6 cats) 2 are long haired... 2 get summer haircuts just like yours! The two here absolutely love it when they are shaved like that!!! I wonder if that means that inside every long haired cat there is a short haired cat waiting to come out?? hmmmm

Pamela, I wonder-does she seem happier now? My sis had a long haired cat she'd periodically take to the groomer and that cat would strut with pride after each cut!!

She looks like a Siamese Tiger. Just let the mane grow a little bit more!

Tessy is a lovely cat. She's still quite pretty with her new cut.

We had a Persian when my last child was born. He had some difficulty adjusting to the new arrival, and to avoid being graphic, I'll just say he had a bathroom problem that eventually led to him being groomed three times in two weeks. The last time, the groomer opted to shave him. If you've never seen a shaved Persian, it is pitiful and hilarious at the same time. The poor guy hid from us for weeks.

Not being a "cat" person, I didn't even know cats were ever groomed! Just shows how little I know.
Of course, my first pet was a cat, the only time I ever had one, and I was terrorized by it age 2...;)

Now, Tessie...she does look like a nice kitty though...her coloring is beautiful!

Ah, look at Tessy with no hair. Poor thing. I bet LG is secretly laughing at her, thinking this is punishment for all the hissing and nastiness Tessie's given her. tee hee

Very suave, but maybe a little forlorn!

I bet that shaved fur is so soft too. I have two outdoors longhair cats that need to be shaved. One though has managed to get all of her mats out this year. But the other one...horrible.

Agh! How ever did you get your cat to the groomers? It's a suicidal maniac-atic trip, just to go to the vet. She does look purrrrrrdy.

Our Cap'n Jack is just about due for the same experience... Sad!

The before and after photos remind me of that saying, "She's not fat -- she's fluffy!"

She does look a lot like our Eloise, or rather, she did look a lot like Eloise. Eloise has a matting problem too. She has been bathed by the girls, and a little clipping done, but I am not sure how she would fair at the groomers. We may have to resort to that as she gets older.

I think my parents have gotten one of their cats that cut before. Is it called the "lion" cut?

She looks very happy and still lovely.

Of course we'll miss the hairball vomit.
