Peanut Butter

I discovered the most difficult thing about helping with the new baby is keeping 4 1/2 year-old Buttercup quiet when "mommy" naps.

We had a quiet moment this morning on the sun porch while Jammin went to a sports camp.

Me: Look Buttercup! There's a mama Blackbird.

Buttercup: Yup. She eats the peanuts. Then she goes back to the babies and pukes it up and says "here's lunch."

Me, keeping a straight face: I like peanuts, especially in trail mix.

Buttercup: I like peanuts, too. As long as my mommy doesn't puke 'em up.

Hey! I think this is the first time I've been the first comment on your blog!

Now see, if you had another child, you could be a regular blogger again with all that material, or not.

What mental imagery. Thanks for that. You're going to have tons of new material from now on.

Buttercup's a pretty sharp cookie!

BTW, I posted a link on my blog to the story behind Myfanwy. Mom came through again!

I'd rather have my peanuts int trail mix too. Buttercup sounds as though she doesn't miss much!
Just saw the photo as it wasn't there when I first commented. He's a beautiful baby and her expression is so tender.
Congratulations again!!

How could you keep a straight face when she said that??? LOL

My youngest is SO sensitive about even talking about that stuff...goes back to a time when she was sick like that and she has too keen a memory!

I guess they couldn't have a play date any time soon! ;)

That granddaughter of yours is pretty quick with the quips. Must take after her mother and maternal grandmother. *grin*

You gotta love the way kids like to keep it real while we sugar-coat things!

I forgot to say how wonderful it is that you are there helping out. I don't know what I would have done without my mom after the birth of each of my three kids.

ahhh, the clarity when you're young. She's right. Much better not to have your peanuts pre-puked.

The grandson is, well, he is a baby and if cute fits the bill than cute he is. Buttercup will have alot to teach him. She is one smart cookie.

I'm with Buttercup!

When Karmyn doesn't need you anymore, c'mon over ;)
I must admit, your blog name caught my eye. Dust, dishes, it's all waiting at my house! Our grandchildren - the icing on the cake!

I agree. It doesn't sound too appetizing.

Looks like if you enjoy your grandma job very much !!
as the mother of a kid with a peanut allergy, i've seen it come back the second time more times than i care to count.

believe me, it's nothing to write home about.

What a smart little 4 1/2 year old Buttercup is. And I concur. No puking up of the peanuts.

She is so wise for being so young.

I may never eat crunchy peanut butter again! Buttercup knows a lot about baby birds and mama birds. Someone has obviously spent a lot of time talking to her and answering that myriad of questions.

I agree with Heather. It is nice that you are there to help Karmyn. I do not know what I would have done without my mom.

From the other side? I cannot imagine anything better than helping my daughter when she had her lil man. Enjoy.

Can't blame Buttercup for that, really.

Finally! I've been trying to open your comment page for three days Pamela. Kept getting a "stop" sign. Happens to me a lot when trying to comment on your blog--I'm totally puzzled.

Anyway! I just wanted to add my congratulations to the many you've received on the birth of your grandson. Hope you're needed by the new mother for several weeks to come. . .
