On my Monday morning walk I noticed that the Great Horned Owl was once more nesting in the dirt bank above Bennington Lake.

... and the mate watched over her from the pine trees.

Is that owl really living close to you?
We had a screech owl baby for awhile. I think it was hurt and my brother was nursing it back to health. We feed it meat...and it did make a crazy screech (o:

You are soooo lucky to capture these photos! I LOVE owls. I am fascinated by them. We have a few that flock to our yard and I can hear their calls at night time (during the summer months when our windows are open). I have yet to get a photo of one. Thanks for sharing!

Great photos!

Reminds me of a grouchy old man who isn't really as grouchy as he appears. :)

Dear Pamela. what a great photo of a great big owl. What's the collective noun for a group of owls?

you have such a good eye for catching them.

I miss the pair of grt horned owls that lived near me in CA. I didn't see them much, but I heard them nearly every morning sometime between 3 and 4 AM. Lovely.

Excellent shots!

I've not seen an owl upclose and personal yet. I do see them flying away sometimes at twilight - off to find a dinner mouse I guess.
