Wordless Wednesday - No Scarin' Heron

This Great Blue Heron, initially camouflaged by the sunlight on the creek, seemed to jump out of nowhere into my vision. Although he was just a few yards from me, he remained a silent, motionless sentinel.

very cool.
when we were camping, a crane scared the beejeebers out of me. i didn't see him when he started his squawking to the right of me. the camera was too far out of reach to get it in time for a good pic, especially when trying to resusitate your own heart at the same time.

We got a close encounter with a heron about this time last year. They seem to be fairly calm most of the time. At least, the one I met was. Great shot! :)
