Hi Lily, Hi Lily, Hi Lo

A song of love is a sad song,
Hi-Lili, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo
A song of love is a song of woe
Don't ask me how I know
A song of love is a sad song
For I have loved and it's so
I sit at the window and watch the rain, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo
Tomorrow I'll probably love again, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo.
(1953 From the musical LILI, sung by Leslie Caron. Later performed by Shelly Fabares in the sixties.)

These are the gorgeous tropical lilies blooming this week in our pond. Unfortunately, fall is pushing the thermometer down into the forties the next few nights. One morning very soon they will say goodbye.

Bye Lily, Bye Lily, Bye low........

You have an amazing pond. Great photos!

Do you just lose the blooms or the whole plant? We used to have lilies in our fish pond but they lasted all year round.

Those are gorgeous. We don't have many lily ponds here in the desert. Do you have water mocassins?

Ah, Pammy, you took a picture--it'll last longer!!

Such beauty exists right under your feet; I know it comes with much TLC :).

What gorgeous pictures. Dang that chilly weather.

Mark: Thank you. It's WORK.
WT: They all die... or rather would. Hubby takes the hardier ones-cuts them completely back and puts them on the bottom of the pond. The tropical ones died last year. This year we are taking the bulbs and storing them in sacks of sand in 50 degrees.
Swampy Maybe on our feet (:
otherbear we think they are beautiful creations
Robin we took soooo many pictures. these I just shot two days ago
nikki I'm hoping we have more snow this year. Last year was disappointing

Your lilys are so colorful. Mine are a very waxy white with just a hint of yellow.
It's rainy and cold here this morning. Fall is arriving..

I love water lilies and they've always held a special place in my heart because when I was little and we'd go camping, my dad would always get some water lilies for my hair when he'd gone fishing:-) xox

Yes, our flowers are not long for this world either. You'd think it would be the chilly weather that is taking them down, but actually they're disappearing because people are coming into our yard, digging them up and taking them away.

I am a person who opposes the death penalty, but scenarios like these are making me seriously reconsider my position on this issue.

What a charming post. Love the lillies. Do you have a bench near your pond so that you can sit and enjoy?

Very clever ... and beautiful lilies. That's the worst of fall, watching everything die off. Which brings to mind another song... Seasons...

I have an award for you at my place. :)

Beautiful pictures ! I am back from Italy in a "normal" world at least concerning internet connection ! I have never had that since I am blogging ! Not even from Egypt or Turkey. From 1 h Internet I could use maybe 45 min at the beginning and then 15 the last 3 days ! It was awful. We arrived home at 1.30 pm made the trip in two shots of course. Now I have to catch up on all news in blogworld ! So I have a lot to read, lol ! Sorry that I couldn't comment !
