Walk on the Creek

Last night we walked the Creek. The grass is beautiful. I didn't think to take extra batteries for the digital camera, so I missed the picture of the Black-Crowned Night Heron. My first sighting ever.

However, we captured a Great Blue Heron on a fishing trip. This majestic bird was being dive-bombed by a Black Bird that finally convinced it to move along. There must have been a nest.

Another one caught a fish on the opposite rocky bank and the hubby snapped it in mid swallow.
A one-legged song sparrow would have been gone unnoticed had he not been singing the joys of the evening. Have you listened?

What? A giraffe?

And a buck that seems to be unconcerned about walkers on the bike path.

Little Bud and My Red Headed girl are making a surprise visit to grandma and grandpa's this weekend. See you Monday!!

Pretty pictures...I wish I could go on walk like that in my neighborhood. Somehow having to drive to take a walk doesn't hold the same appeal. ;)

I wince, too, when I spot a beautiful sight and my camera is no where around or the battery has died. The next thought that enters my mind is that maybe, just maybe, I'm supposed to savor the moment instead of seeing it through the lens of a camera (or screen of a digital).

Sounds like you did a lot of savoring :).

Okay - that giraffe-that's-not-a-giraffe is gonna haunt me. What the heck is that?

Enjoy your walkabout...it can be peaceful.

Oh...wonderful pictures! I am sometimes spotting such fascinating birds, but am not up on most of their names. (I hope to learn more about them with my girls!)
And yes, I always notice the evening songs of the birds...so sweet.
Have a wonderful weekend with your grandchildren, Pamela!

What great photos. And what a great name for a story: Hopyard Hobo. I love it.
You may glance to one side and see my little Tristan this weekend. My father in law (he works for Alaska Airlines) is picking him up in a few hours and bringing him back to Washington (where all of my husband's family lives) so my hubby and I and my bigger kids can go to a seminar for the weekend. Tristan will go to his cousin's birthday party in Federal Way. If you see my little blondie, hug him for me. I will most certainly miss him and worry about him till he's safe in my arms again.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the nice comment. I look forward to our continued visits.
Love!
Wendy
